'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Await News After Alpine Fire

The families of teens missing after a devastating blaze at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are enduring an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and requesting clues about their family members online.

The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated video depict the ceiling igniting as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have warned that it could take an extended period to formally name the victims of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and hurt another 119. Officials said on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with the process ongoing to locate the other six.

In the interim, families and friends have been taking to social media to appeal for clues about their loved ones who were in attendance that night.

Appeals for the Missing

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his parent.

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also present on that night, according to media.

Her brother has published an urgent request online, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
