The families of teens missing after a devastating blaze at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are enduring an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and requesting clues about their family members online.

The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated video depict the ceiling igniting as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have warned that it could take an extended period to formally name the victims of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and hurt another 119. Officials said on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with the process ongoing to locate the other six.

In the interim, families and friends have been taking to social media to appeal for clues about their loved ones who were in attendance that night.

Appeals for the Missing

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his parent.

The who lives of Lutry near the city, informed a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. It's horrific," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his companions had been discovered with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian foreign ministry has said that a number of of its young people are still unaccounted for.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, originally from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has said that he is no longer with us, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Additional Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise among the missing. His parent said that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with friends and found himself at the venue.

"A companion informed me they ran away after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers commented, "I remember his kindness and smile, alongside great responsibility. He would frequently ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also present on that night, according to media.

Her brother has published an urgent request online, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
