The artist has handed over the entirety of his £25,000 award winnings to the MVT, which operates to preserve the Britain's independent live music spots.
Fender was presented with the prize on mid-October as his new release his work was named the top album of the previous year.
Fender has opted to hand the money over to the trust, in recognition of the essential function local spots had in his early career.
"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the shows I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are facing challenges."
From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these locations have ceased operations – approximately 16% of the entire UK sector.
Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.
He also took part, generating over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 small stages across the UK.
The money assisted spaces that were dealing with potential shutdown due to challenges caused by floods, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and neighbor objections.
Additional spaces obtained financial assistance in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that helped musicians and concertgoers.
"The notion that revenue from performances in major spaces supports the independent spots, where it all starts for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has said.
The musician is not the first artist to donate his award prize money to worthy causes.
In Pulp received the award in the year 1996 for their album their work, lead singer Cocker declared that the act would contribute their winnings to the organization War Child.
During 2002, rapper and singer she shared her prize among a few charities, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"And I donated a £1,000 to the center, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked new equipment," the artist shared with the media.
Two years ago, they donated their prize money to the youth organization that nurtured their act, as well as other local music groups.
Also 1994 winners M People gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was diagnosed the illness.
"The victory was sufficient," stated vocalist the singer. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning touched the lives of others."
In the past week, the MVT announced it had saved a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by bringing them into local control.
The first in the city and The Croft in that location were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by a national body and enthusiasts who buy "shares" in the properties.
