Through a major step to strengthen its long-term security, Ukraine has signed a preliminary agreement to acquire as many as 100 Rafale fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles, air defence systems and additional essential gear from France. This deal was signed by Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and France's leader Emmanuel Macron during a joint news conference at the Elysée presidential palace. The Ukrainian leader referred to the pact as “a historic deal.”

Drone Attack Hits Turkish-Flagged Tanker in Southern Ukraine
An unmanned aerial vehicle hit a Turkish-flagged ship and caused a fire in the southern part of the Odesa region, officials reported. The incident took place just a day after the Ukrainian president signed a deal to import US liquefied natural gas through the area. The MT Orinda was hit while unloading liquefied petroleum gas at Izmail harbor, according to Turkey's Directorate for Maritime Affairs. Every one of the 16 crew aboard were safely removed and no one was hurt.
