Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the production, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public personalities expressed different comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial statements that were broadly criticized by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an associate ought to have intervened when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
