British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans had expressed its support for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
