Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
